Most forms ask for a range. This page targets the top of it, so your file is neither too heavy nor rejected for being too small.
Read the wording on the upload box before you compress. “Maximum 50KB” and “between 20KB and 50KB” are different requirements, and the second one punishes an 8KB file.
| What the portal says | What it means | What to enter here |
|---|---|---|
| “Should not exceed 20KB” | Upper limit only | Target 20KB |
| “Between 20KB and 50KB” | A band — too small also fails | Target 20, max 50 |
| “Maximum 50KB” | Upper limit only | Target 50KB |
| Form | Photo | Signature |
|---|---|---|
| IBPS PO / Clerk / SO, SBI PO / Clerk | JPG 20–50KB, 200×230px | JPG 10–20KB, 140×60px |
| RRB NTPC / Group D | Commonly 20–50KB, ~413×531px | Commonly 10–20KB |
| SSC legacy and older forms | JPG 20–50KB, 200×230px | JPG 10–20KB |
| UPSC CSE | JPG up to ~200KB (min 200×230) | JPG up to ~100KB |
Always confirm against the current notification — bands shift between cycles and between boards.
More bytes means the encoder keeps more detail at the same pixel size. At 200×230 the visible difference is mostly edge sharpness and contrast in shadows — which matters for photos with patterned backgrounds and for scanned signatures.
This page stops as soon as the file fits. It will not inflate a 12KB photo to 50KB just to reach a number; if your band has a minimum, use the max field so the target range covers it.
| Message | Real cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| File exceeds 50KB | Encoder stopped above the limit | Lower the target KB and re-download |
| File too small | You compressed under the band minimum | Set target 20 and max 50 |
| Invalid dimensions | Right size, wrong pixels | Pick the exam preset, not “Original” |
| Invalid format | PNG or HEIC got uploaded | Switch output to JPG |
